PATerminal vs Warp
Competitor column last checked:
Warp is an AI-native terminal: the assistant is built in, priced in credits, and increasingly the centre of the product. It is a polished app on macOS, Linux, and Windows.
PATerminal takes the opposite bet. It assumes you already have Claude Code or Codex on your own subscription, and focuses on running many of them side by side without an account, credits, or telemetry.
| What you get | PATerminal | Warp |
|---|---|---|
| Price | $6/mo or $60/yr after a 30-day free trial. No usage credits. | Free plan with a monthly AI credit allowance (Warp's pricing update announced 150 credits for the first two months, then 75). Paid plans from $20/mo. See sources below. |
| Platforms | Windows 10+ and macOS 11+. | macOS, Linux, and Windows 10/11 (x64 and ARM64). |
| Where the AI comes from | Bring your own CLI agent: Claude Code, Codex, or anything else that runs in a terminal. PATerminal itself meters nothing; your agent's own plan limits still apply. | Built-in agent billed in Warp credits; CLI agents on their own plans can run inside it too. |
| Account | None. Trial starts on first launch. | Optional for the core terminal since late 2024; AI features need an account. |
| Running several agents at once | Independent pane tree, status, note, and colour per session. | Tabs and panes; agent-management features are part of the AI plans. |
| Resuming an agent conversation after a restart | Detects Claude Code / Codex and reattaches with --resume, scrollback included. | Not confirmed on the date shown. |
| Two agents working together | Pair mode: implement × review, cross-review, brainstorm, co-implement. | No direct equivalent confirmed on the date shown. |
| Git | Built-in panel with worktrees, PRs, issues, and a diff viewer. | Code review view for inspecting and editing repository changes. A worktree, PR, or issue panel was not confirmed on the date shown. |
| Telemetry | None. | Collected by default; can be turned down in settings. |
| Install on Windows | .exe installer; WebView2 installs automatically. | .exe installer or winget. |

PATerminal is the better choice when
- You already pay for Claude Code or Codex and do not want a second AI bill measured in credits.

- Your company does not allow tools that require accounts or send telemetry.
