Broadcast input

Broadcast sends what you type to many terminals at once — ask five agents the same question, run the same command in every checkout, or stop them all with one Ctrl+C.

Written for PATerminal v1.8.3

Broadcast to several sessions

  1. Click Broadcast in the toolbar.
  2. In Broadcast targets, check the sessions that should receive your typing. The current session is always included; Select every session checks them all. Each row shows its group and pane count.
  3. Press Broadcast to N sessions.

While broadcasting, the button reads Broadcasting (N) and target sessions are marked in the sidebar. Keystrokes, quick phrases, and dropped file paths go to every pane of every target — including sessions you aren't looking at.

Broadcast inside one session

Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+B toggles broadcasting to all panes of the current session only, without opening the dialog.

Stop broadcasting

Click the button again (or press Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+B). Targets are forgotten when you stop and are never saved, so you can't accidentally broadcast after a restart. A target session that you close simply drops out.

Important

Everything you type goes to every target, including Enter and Ctrl+C. Check the target count on the button before running anything destructive.
