Quick phrases

Quick phrases are reusable snippets — “Also run the tests”, “Review the diff and list problems”, a long deployment command. Insert them into the focused terminal with one click. Enter is never sent automatically, so you can edit before submitting.

Add a phrase

  1. Click Phrases in the toolbar.
  2. Type the text in Add a frequently used phrase.... It can span several lines.
  3. Under Save to, choose All repositories or Only the repository you're in.
  4. Press Add.

Insert a phrase

  • Click a chip on the phrase bar, or a phrase in the dialog.
  • Press Cmd/Ctrl+P to select with the keyboard: Tab or ← → to move, Enter to insert, Esc to cancel.
  • In pair mode setup, Insert a quick phrase fills the task field.
Tip

With broadcast on, a phrase goes to every target at once.

Global and repository phrases

Repository-only phrases appear on the bar only while the focused terminal is inside that repository, and are marked apart from global ones. The dialog lists every phrase, tagging and dimming those that belong to other repositories. Outside a repository only global phrases are offered.

Edit, reorder, and collapse

  • Edit and Delete each phrase in the dialog.
  • Drag phrases (or use ↑ ↓) to reorder them.
  • Collapse the bar to a single scrolling line with ▾ or by clicking its empty area; the state is remembered.
